Fried Fillet of Haddock with Chips, Mushy Peas & Tartare Sauce £24.50 (£££)

A wonderful take on Fish & Chips, in fact the best I’ve tasted! Very deserving of the Silver Fish Award 2023.

OUR VERDICT – 5 Stars

Looking back at over 50 exquisite dishes I’ve tried from some of the UK and the World’s top Fish & Chips, nothing quite compares to the dish I had at J. Sheekey.

The renowned fish restaurant is located just past Leicester Square and is the perfect location for a fantastic meal. The restaurant is cosy and both the inside and outside seating is comfy. Dining on the summer terrace is comfy and quite the experience, watching the bustling West End whilst being separated from the crowd. Outside heaters make sure that the dining experience remains relaxed throughout the evening.

Now for the bit you’ve been waiting for – the dish. The Haddock is cooked to perfection so that it is perfectly flaky and almost melts in your mouth. The batter is light and fluffy whilst also providing the crunchiness you expect. The mushy peas are very fresh too, making the dish absolutely flawless.

Priced at £24.50, J. Sheekey is neither the cheapest nor the most expensive dish reviewed on this site. However, considering the impeccable dish, J Sheekey is reasonably priced for top-notch dining.

Overall, definitely worth a visit. Being the best dish I’ve tasted, in a fabulous establishment, I’m pleased to announce that it has won our Silver Fish Award 2023.

As of September 2023, J Sheekey is still #1 in the World.

J Sheekey is likely to be awarded The Gold Fish Award if it remains at #1 until 2024.
